Getting Started

  • To be eligible to access a Medicare rebate you must first go to your GP, who will undertake a brief assessment of your situation. You need to be granted a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP. This will then allow you to eligible for the Medicare rebate.
  • Organise your first appointment with our Psychologist.
  • Bring the mental health care plan along with your Medicare card. Once you have paid for the session, you will then be able to access the Medicare rebate.
  • You will be eligible to gain rebates for an initial 6 sessions. Your GP can also authorise a further 4 sessions if needed.

With a Mental Health Care Plan Medicare rebates are available. For a 1 Hour appointment you will need to pay the full fee of $134.80. You will then be able to claim back $84.80 from Medicare. Leaving you $50 out of pocket.

Most of the time, we can process Medicare rebates on the spot and transfer the funds directly into your bank account. To do this, you will need to make sure that you have registered your bank details with Medicare. For more information on how to do this, visit the Medicare page on the Department of Human Services website, or visit your closest Medicare office.

A Medicare referral from your Doctor entitles you to claim the Medicare rebate for up to 10 sessions of psychological treatment within 12 months from the date of your referral. You must obtain this referral from your Doctor before your initial consultation with your psychologist.

After 6 sessions you must be reviewed by your Doctor who can then provide you access for the further 4 sessions.
